The venerable rock and roll outfit Richard the Lionhearted make their return to
St. Louis to debut new material in preparation for their forthcoming sophomore
album. The band will be playing in-store at Euclid Records (601 E. Lockwood in
Webster Groves) at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19 and again that evening at 9 p.m.
at the Way Out Club (2525 S. Jefferson) before heading to Rock Island, Ill. for
a live-streaming, in-studio Daytrotter Session at the
Horseshack at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20.
This Columbia-based five-piece band embodies “a
sound born before its members were… drawing deep from the wells of psychedelic
rock and cosmic-minded country dug in the 1970s… yet deftly pass their
retro-fied sonic penchants through the eye of a modern-rock needle.” Richard the
Lionhearted has opened for a number of nationally known acts (Tapes ‘n Tapes,
Other Lives, Oberhofer, Jessica Lea Mayfield, Swearin' among others) in their
collegiate hometown and have logged many miles touring throughout the US.
