Edward Burch Performs to Honor Posthumous Jay Bennet Release

Euclid Records is pleased to welcome former St. Louisian Edward Burch back to play a free in-store performance on Sunday, July 11 at 3 pm. Burch will be performing to help promote “Kicking at the Perfumed Air,” the brand new CD by his old friend and sometime musical partner Jay Bennett. Bennett, a former member of Titanic Love Affair and Wilco, passed away in May, 2009. Euclid Records is located at 601 East Lockwood in Webster Groves, MO, just down the street from Webster University.

Jay Bennett and Edward Burch had released a very well-received album in 2002, “The Palace at 4 AM (Part 1),” and Bennett had followed that up with four solo albums throughout the rest of the decade. At the time of his death, he had nearly completed work on what would become “Kicking at the Perfumed Air.” Burch and other friends of the late musician stepped in to finish it and the result, according to Burch, “represents, if not the album Jay had intended to share, most certainly an album of which he would be proud.”

To celebrate the release of music by such a talented singer/songwriter/performer as Jay Bennett, Edward Burch is appearing at a few record stores in the Midwest towns he and Bennett knew so well. For the Euclid Records show, Burch will be joined on a few songs by John Horton, currently a member of the Bottle Rockets and other bands, but also one of the many musicians who had played with Bennett in the past.
