Paul H. Alpert to Appear at Euclid Records St. Louis

Paul H. Alpert, the local performer who is described as a singer/songwriter on one side, and a blues/jazz guy on the other, will be appearing Friday night, Aug. 27, at 7 pm. Alpert, who will appear with his band “3,” will be the second in the monthly series of local artists performing in Euclid Records on the last Friday of the month as part of the Webster Groves Finale Friday events. Euclid Records is located at 601 E. Lockwood in Webster Groves.

Paul H. Alpert was born in Baltimore, Maryland, but raised in St. Louis. In 1974, at age 12, he picked up his first guitar, and has spent the rest of his life mastering a wide variety of styles, from blues approaches to fingerpicking, always with a strong sense of melody. Think Stephen Stills or Jorma Kaukonen to get your first impression. Alpert plays in ten different tunings. In addition to guitar, Alpert plays bass, piano, and banjo. The songs he writes are sometimes sarcastic, often humorous, and full of heart.

Alpert’s debut album, “Curb Appeal,” is all instrumental, and his next album, “Indented,” will feature his vocals. He will be playing songs from both albums in this performance. For more information on Alpert, check out his Myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/paulhalpert.

Finale Friday has been kicking around the Webster Groves merchants for a while now, but Euclid Records is committed to it in a bigger way with this new series of local performances. On the last Friday of each month, Euclid Records will feature a local musician or band performing on the store’s lovely stage.
